Welcome to F.T. McKinstry's Art Galleries!

I am a fantasy author who loves to paint. Writing and painting work together nicely; one inspires me to do the other. Endlessly fascinated by woods, gardens, birds, wild animals, the sun, moon and stars, I like to put to canvas, or in words, inner landscapes done in rich colors and a mysterious feel inspired by fairy tales, myth, legend and imagination.

I also have a thing for pen and ink. It is a different kind of focus, more intensive. But the best thing about painting or drawing is the state of mind I drop into while doing it. I don't think much. My internal editors back away slowly. It's a lot like gardening; I just go along, half listening to the whispers, and things come together.

In addition to having shown paintings in galleries and shows around New England, I have published art in Aoife's Kiss, Tales of the Talisman, and illustrated the chapbook The Battle for Newhome, Sam's Dot Publishing.

I have two galleries dedicated to illustrations inspired by a series of dark fantasy novels called The Chronicles of Ealiron, Double Dragon Publishing; and a short story collection called Wizards, Woods and Gods: Tales of Integration, Wild Child Publishing.
